Road Cycling

Important Notes

Bunch Safety

  • Obey traffic signals – red lights
  • Ride inside the yellow line
  • Single file on narrow roads
  • Point out objects in the road

Bunch Etiquette

  • Blow your nose at the back of the bunch
  • Don’t attack – training rides are just that – training rides
  • Don’t half bike
  • Be punctual

Visitors are always welcome. Saturday rides are slower and easier so beginners are welcome. Sundays are not for the fainthearted or unfit!

Rides for the Weekend
The Cape Town Cycle Tour done for another year. Congratulations to all who made it round the route and of course to those who made it twice.  If anyone needs a round of applause it’s Aluis who did 3h17 on her first Tour. Sorry guys I think you got carrots this year, best performance definitely to the girls.

I am back planning routes after a long break, but this time with plenty of assistance.

Rides start at 07h00 from Saturday.  The new arraignment will see three groups on Saturdays, Fast, Coordinated by Rob Evetts,  Club Rides, Coordinated by Pine Pienaar and social/beginners Coordinated by Steve Maritz and myself.

Sunday Rides will stay much the same but we will divide the group into two levels on the day, numbers permitting. We will share the coordination job.

We are really pulling out all the stops to accommodate riders of all levels and request that  members respect the Club rides and routes. While we do understand that you may want to arrange a different route with your mates if the club route does not appeal,  please start somewhere else or at a different time. As ride Captains we find it very difficult to manage the group if there are breakaways from the main ride and often spend time and effort trying to trace riders who do not return to the start or who disappear during the ride. If you turn early, or leave the group during a ride please get a message to the ride Captain………..

We will be posting rides and routes three months in advance and will coordinate club and province races in the calendar. The programme for March to June should be up by next week.

Saturday 12 March 2016

Route will be a leg turner to the Diary and back with plenty of time for War stories at the BP afterwards.

Sunday 13 March 2016

There is no planned club ride for Sunday at we are staging the Annual Century City Criterium.  Please come down to CC to support and assist.
Plenty of the riders will be registering for the league for the first time so Mike and Graham will need all the help they can get.  Please be there by 7am.
